Welcome

I teach biostatistics and data science at UBC. I regularly instruct or coordinate BIOL 300: Fundamentals of Biostatistics. Future efforts may relate to DSCI 100 or courses that blend biology, statistics, and data science.

Previously, I was a scientist (also at UBC) who used motion capture and virtual reality to investigate flight control in birds. Data from studies of behavior and neuroscience often require semantic validation and dealing with noise. Making sense of information in these contexts made me appreciate the importance of statistical thinking, sanity checks, and effective visualizations.
